Rocky Mountain at Mountain View

What was expected to be one of the best conference games of the year turned into a rout. Mountain View jumped out to an early lead, up 21-10 after the first quarter. Mountain View’s Tyson Percifield scored 12 in the first. For Rocky Mountain, Riley Bruneel scored 7 points but the biggest factor was that one of their best shooters, Ryan Skurdal, picked up 2 quick fouls and then a technical. With him out, the Mountain View 2-3 zone become even more affective.

In the second, David Trompke did his best to keep them in it. He scored 10 points including 2 3-pointers. But Mountain View kept up with the Trompke run and went into half time up 36-26.

The third quarter was more of the same from Mountain View. Each game they get better and better playing as a team. Percifield is the biggest factor but they are really spreading the ball around and getting production from all of their players. The biggest improvements have come from Tanner Percifield, who is becoming comfortable with the handle at the point and has found his range, and Brandon Luedtke, who is learning how to rebound and is defensive presence in the post. He had 6 blocks tonight.

By the end of the third Mountain View was up 56-36 and they would end up winning big. Percifield finished with 27 points and Mountain View has a ton of momentum heading into break.
