Eagle at Capital game recap

Both teams started slow but it was Eagle’s 1-2-2 full court trap that helped them to build a lead. Capital struggled to get into their half court offense and when they did they had a hard time getting baskets to fall. Eagle made their biggest run in the second period, led by Daved Gillmor’s 10 points. He would end with about 19 on the game.

Coming out of the lockerroom at halftime, Capital was down 28-13 but they settled down and were able to break and score off the press. But Eagle held their lead and finished off the win 49-32.

Impressive in moments and showing what could some day be, Eagle’s  Braden Shaw displayed some incredible athleticism. With the right coaching and development he could turn into a Brady Jardine type of player. The 6’8 sophomore has a nice verticle to go with his length and combined good timing and anticipation on defense, blocking or affecting most of Capital’s attempts inside the key. Imagine what a player like Shaw and Mountain View’s Brandon Luedtke would be like on the same team. The SIC’s best shock blockers could make a heck of defensive combine in the spring and/or summer travel season.
