Both Centennial and Meridian came out ready to play but Centennial would end up running away with the win, 71-49.
Meridian started balanced, with scoring coming from nearly everyone in the first half whereas Centennial needed the efforts juniors Landon Kissinger and Aaron Maffey to keep things close in the first quarter. Both would end with about 15 points each but they combined for 18 points in the first half. Centennial finished the first half up 34-18.
Meridian started the second half in zone and got off to a 6-0 run, forcing Centennial to take a :30 timeout. From there they went to one of the most solid players in the state, getting the ball inside to Faruk Huskic. Huskic took over in the third, scoring 11 in the quarter and giving Centennial the final separation they needed to finish off Meridian.
For Meridian, Brady Gormley showed sneaky athleticism. He made some nice moves and he’s fun to watch. You can tell he’s a kid that just loves to play ball.
