Boys 5A SIC stats (regular season)

Here are the final stats for the boys 5A Southern Idaho Conference for the regular season. Again, a huge thanks to Steve Schroeder for all his hard work this year and all the years he’s been doing this!

Things that really stand out include:

  • Mountain View and Borah finished tied for the top spot (which Borah gets the tie breaker as they won their head to head match up). Mountain View was the top offensive team in the conference (59.6 ppg and 47.0% from the field) while Borah was the top defensive team (46.6 ppg)
  • Centennial averaged 8.6 turnovers per game. They were the only team in single digits and 2.4 fewer than the second place team
  • Tyson Percifield (Mountain View) takes home the scoring title at 20.4 ppg (nearly 3 points ahead of second place). What’s amazing is the efficiency with which he did it. He shot over 50% from the field, over 40% from the 3-point line and over 85% from the free throw line. For a guard this is remarkable

And congrats to the 8 Idaho Select players that finished in the top 10 in scoring (Percifield, Gillmor, Graham, Huskic, Duncan, Manning, Jensen and Bruneel). All 8 of these players played for Idaho Select in the summer and/or spring of 2010. Click here to see the summer roster and click here to see the spring roster.

Conference play-in games start this Wednesday. Here is the schedule from the Idaho Statesman.

Here are a couple of teams/games to watch out for, besides your obvious choices:

  • Eagle – they started the season slow but they’ve won their last 5 straight and 7 out of their last 8 including wins over Timberline, Borah and Mountain View. There is something to be said about playing your best ball at the end of the year.
  • Capital at Vallivue play-in game – Vallivue has lost their last five but their last win was against Capital. Though Vallivue won both game this year it was by a combined margin of just 5 points. And Capital has been hanging tight with teams lately so this game could be exciting.
  • Boise – they may be the turnaround story of the year. They doubled their regular season conference wins and just missed an automatic bid to the district tournament.
