With pool play complete for the 17U division, bracket play begins today for the adidas Super 64. The White team finished second in their pool, Black finished third so both teams qualify for the Gold bracket. While White got an automatic birth, Black needed to win a play-in game to make it in to the field of 64.
Their play-in game was against the Dallas Mustangs. It was their second straight game against a Texas team, having lost the night before to Texas Select.
Black played much better, with bracket play providing them with a fresh start. Starting to fit into their roles, the focus was better and you can tell that guys are starting to feel more comfortable. Riley Bradshaw has found his flow at the point, creating great opportunities for teammates. He also led all scorers with 19. Sean McCarthy scored 14.
They will take on The Factory from Utah in their next game at 9:00 PM tonight. The Factor features Nick Emery (6-1, 2013) and TJ Haws (6-3, 2014). Both have received offers from BYU. Emery has supposedly also been offered by Oklahoma State and his brother, Jackson, was a senior for BYU last year.
White also plays tonight at 9:00 PM. They play the winner of Colorado’s Tru-Playaz Basketball Club and California’s Dream Team.
Idaho Select Green (15U) finished pool play this morning with a loss to California’s Downey Ballhogs, 50-43. They got a strong performance from Brandon Navarro with 24 points. The loss puts them third in their pool so they open against the Annandale Bulldawgs from Virginia tonight at 6:00 PM.
