Wolves Weather Sedillo Streak

At Meridian High School on Thursday night, the Warriors battled in an effort to get their first conference win against Timberline. But Timberline wasn’t ready to help. The Wolves came out aggressive against the Warrior’s 3/4 court press and then attacked in the half court. They have a nice blend of styles of play. Grant Saetrum is a patient pass first point guard with a great handle, court vision and ability to get past the first defender. Combine that with Jordan Hall’s ability to get all the way to the basket, Jack Tate’s floaters and the outside shot, though sometimes streaky, of Jarid Downey  and it’s a lethal combination.

Which is why Meridian is impressive in that they didn’t roll over when Timberline got out to a 16 point lead in the first half. A lot of credit goes to the Warrior’s Greg Slattery for that. Slattery was a force inside as a scorer and a rebounder and even bounced outside to knock down a 3-pointer. He kept his team in the game.

And in the second half, as Timberline threatened to bulldoze their way out of Meridian, AJ Sedillo stepped in. The senior started knocking down one 3-pointer after another and would get the Warriors within 1 with 3 minutes to go.

But down the stretch, Timberline made their free throws and would hold off Meridian’s first conference win…for now.
