Tigers Visit Vikings, Take Home The Win

In a non-conference 4A match up, the Jerome Tigers visited the Middleton Vikings and are taking back home a 44-33 win. The Tigers were led by senior forward Jake Hollifield with 17 points and 14 rebounds and got some great perimeter work from sophomore Garrett Leavitt with 13 points.

The game was tight through the first half. Trevor Maughan scored the first 7 Middleton points and had 12 in the first half. He showed a lot of different aspects of his game, with the ability to shoot, drive and get out in transition. He also sees the floor well.

But the Middleton supporting cast struggled and when Jerome switched to a box and one on Maughan halfway into the second quarter, there was no relief. Maughan would finish with 14 points in the game.

Jerome looked pretty balanced. Obviously Hollifield, who has been getting college looks since the summer, is their main threat. But his inside play is complimented with the outside talent in players like Leavitt and others. Plus, the Tigers aren’t scared to mix up their defense. In addition to the box and one they also played some 1-2-1-1 full court press, 1-3-1 zone and man.
