In the first semi-final game, Borah and Eagle weren’t exactly tearing up the nets. But it definitely had the intense atmosphere of a playoff game and clearly both teams desperately wanted the win. And after four quarters it was locked up at 37 each and overtime was needed.
Overtime was back and forth. It came down to a last second shot for Borah. You can see it below.
The Lions move on to the district championship next Friday. More importantly, they get an invitation to the state tournament.
Game 2 was also intense, as Mountain View tried to get back to the state tournament and defend their title while Boise was trying to get their first invite in quite sometime.
From the beginning, Mountain View would build their lead and then make a big run in the third quarter. But Boise wasn’t ready to go quietly. They started to use their run and jump press and sped up the tempo. Plus, they knocked down some big shots and made free throws. They cut the lead to 7. At that point, Mountain View calmed down, worked the clock and finished off the win 48-41 to earn a trip back to state.
The title game between Borah and Mountain View sets a match up between what has become a great rivalry. The teams split their games earlier this year, Borah’s only loss. These two teams also met up last year in the state tournament semi-finals with Mountain View getting the better of Borah on their way to the title.
