Colbert keeps Post Falls in it, moves them to the semis

Game #3 at the Idaho Center was a roller coaster ride between Post Falls and Centennial.

It was clear that Post Falls was the more comfortable team at the start. Marcus Colbert showed why Montana State signed him earlier this year. He’s a total floor general with vision and swagger. And running mates Luke Thoreson and Michael Hillman pitched in to keep things balanced.

By halftime, Post Falls had built a 28-16 lead, thanks to a Colbert buzzer beater. The crucial flaw: free throws. They missed a ton of them and missed an opportunity to put the game away early.

Centennial came out in the second half with a new plan. Though point guard Daryl Robertson was struggling to score off the drive, in the second half he started to find cutting teammates. Combined with a step up in the defensive effort, Centennial would cut into the Post Falls lead and then take over the lead in the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter was about as good as it gets. Centennial was getting plays from everyone while Colbert took it upon himself to lead Post Falls.

Centennial would built up to a 4 point lead. But Colbert was not to be denied and would convert 2 lay ups and then 2 free throws. But it would be his final lay up that would give Post Falls a 1 point lead and the win, 56-55.
