In the final 4A game of the day from the Borah Sports Complex, Rigby showed why they are a top ranked team in the state.
Rigby is big from the point to the post and their size advantage got even bigger five minutes into the first quarter when Jerome’s big man, Jake Hollifield, went down with an ankle injury.
Initially, Jerome looked like they were going to hang around. Garret Leavitt and Shaquille Kennedy kept them in the game and it was still close at half with Rigby up 24-18.
But in the second half Rigby stepped up their defense. It was suffocating. Jerome struggled to get into their offense.
And Rigby showed their depth. Even with a Jerome triangle-and-two on their main threats, Kamen McCullough and Dylan Jones, their teammates stepped up.
Rigby advances to the semi-finals after a 47-28 win.
