All in all, the NCAA Evaluation period couldn’t have gone much better for Idaho Select Basketball. All five teams that traveled to Las Vegas made it to the final day of play, which for the spring is quite the accomplishment.
Here is a look at how they finished and additional notes following.
Anthony Davis Select (4-1)
Idaho Select 17U White (3-1)
Idaho Select 16U Red (2-1)
Idaho Select 15U Green (3-1)
Idaho Select 14U Gold (1-3)
Anthony Davis Select
The team that most college recruiters had their eyes on was Idaho Select’s top team, Anthony Davis Select. Anthony Davis Select competed in the Pangos Spring Spectacular’s Invitational Division, considered by most one of the best non-shoe affiliated tournaments in the west.

The team played well and had several players with big performances. And though it was clear that they still have a little work to do to become more cohesive on the court, they made big improvements from their first game to their last.
They went 4-1 on the weekend and made it all the way to the final four before losing to Prodigy Elite 65-64. The guys all played very well at some point during the weekend, each contributing in their own way (click here to see the entire roster). Each game brought in 10-20 college recruiters, most of them from Division I programs.
Idaho Select 17U White
White won their pool at the Bigfoot Tip Off Classic in relatively convincing fashion, qualifying them for the Platinum Bracket. They won their first tournament game against Las Vegas Dynasty but lost starter Rhett Baerlocher to a broken nose. In the Elite Eight, they lost to a tough Arizona Aces squad. Despite the loss, at least one Big Sky school made a point to be at every one of White’s games.
Idaho Select 16U Red
Red won both their Tip Off Classic pool play games and looked good going in to the tournament. However, their opening round game was against Cache Valley Elite. CVE proved to be very tough, knocking off the Idaho Select team and would eventually end up winning the top 16U division.

Idaho Select 15U Green
Green split their pool play games but lost the pool play tie breaker based on point differential. They the went on to compete and win the championship of the Silver Bracket.
Idaho Select 14U Gold
Gold finished third in their pool but they were resilient in the Silver Bracket. They won their first round game before losing in the championship game to Hooptown (CA).
Summer Team Tryout Information
This summer, Idaho Select will be taking at least five teams in the 15U-17U age range to three NCAA certified events in July. If you are interested in trying out for one of the summer teams, the tryouts will be on May 2-3 at Mountain View High School. More information can be found at www.idahoselect.org under SUMMER PROGRAM but it is asked that if you would like to participate to please register ASAP so that the coaches can properly prepare the tryout.
This year’s tryout will coincide with the Transition Hoops Showcase Series so players will also have a chance to be evaluated by professional college recruiters and evaluators.
