17U Champions – Utah Basketball Club Elite

Jake Lindsey was a big factor in Utah Basketball Club’s championship

Utah Basketball Club (UBC) was unstoppable in pool play and in the championship bracket, finishing with an undefeated 6-0 record. They were really only tested twice, first by Elite 24 of Oregon and then in the championship game against Anthony Davis Select. Jake Lindsey may have been the best overall player in the tournament, running the UBC offense but contributing all over the court. Don’t be shocked when his recruitment picks up heavily over the summer. As Tony Jones from the Salt Lake Tribune wrote last July, “His talent is easy to spot” (read the article “Another Lindsey makes name for himself in Utah basketball“).  Utah commit Noah Togiai was great. And Jarriesse Blackmon and Brayden Holker really caught the attention of several colleges.

Following the tournament, UBC was ranked #20 in the Indihoops national top 25 (week of May 14-20) for 17U club basketball teams.

Some other teams that had great weekends included:

  • Anthony Davis Select – finished 5-1 and lost in the championship game
  • Elite 24 Black – made it to the final four and looked good against Utah Basketball Club Elite
  • Team Fly – the Portland team won their pool and then made it to the final four
  • Subway Select – Overcame their scheduling challenges to win their pool and make it to the Elite 8. They are actually a 16U club basketball team but proving they have the talent to compete at a higher level
  • North Idaho Wolfpack and First Step Elite – They had a battle in pool play and then met up in the Gold Bracket championship game where the Wolfpack edged them out.

16U Champions – Portland Elite

The 16U division was loaded with talented club basketball teams. Portland Elite came in under the radar but they made an excellent showing in Boise, going 5-0 and taking the title. They got wins over Triple Threat Grey, Idaho Select Red and Cache Valley Elite.

15U Champions – Up Tempo (ID)

Much like the 16U division, the 15U division was packed with talented teams in every pool, setting up a tough championship bracket. The title game came down to a rematch between Up Tempo and Utah Basketball Club. Tempo got the win but both teams proved they belonged there.

14U Champions – Cache Valley Elite (UT)

13U Champions – HD-TC Select (WA)
