Idaho Select Summer Preview And Schedule

The summer NCAA evaluation period is now underway and Idaho Select Basketball will have five traveling teams this July. Here is an Idaho Select summer preview that gives an idea of what we’ve been doing and where we are going.

Prior to leaving for their first tournament, the teams spent three days at the College of Idaho. The guys practiced twice a day and also attended off the court seminars on topics including academics in the recruiting process and developing a growth mind set.

A big thanks to the College of Idaho for their great facilities and hosting our out of town players in the dorms. It proved to be a great experience for our guys developing their skills and team chemistry.

Here is a look at the teams’ schedules. To see the current rosters, click here.

All teams will play in the same tournaments. Here is the Idaho Select summer schedule.

July 11-13 – NW Premier Summer Showcase, Belleuve Community College, Bellevue, WA – This is one of the best events in the northwest. It is the first big tournament of the summer in the northwest so teams are getting back in the groove. The tournament is mainly teams from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Canada and Montana and you will see nearly every northwest college represented here, from the NWAACC to the Pac 12. Here is a link to the tournament (schedule is available online)

July 16-20 – Best of the Summer, American Sports Center, Anaheim, CA – You won’t find a better west coast tournament in terms of competition, talent, convenience and west coach college recruiting. It’s the second evaluation period so most teams have some games under their belts or they are getting their teams back to full strength as top players return from individual camps. The tournament hosts teams mainly from California, Washington, Nevada and Arizona with a spattering of other states. Colleges from up and down the coast and around the west will be there. And since all the tournament games are in the same facility (the ASC has 25 hardwood courts) it is the most convenient tournament of the summer. July 24-27 – Fab 48, Las Vegas, NV – The final evaluation period of the summer culminates in Las Vegas. There has been a lot of change in the last year with who is playing in which tournament, including the status of the adidas Super 64, which is now an adidas qualifying event for select teams only. Idaho Select had played in this tournament for years but will try out the Fab 48 for the first time this summer. The tournaments in Las Vegas typically bring in teams from around the country and therefore bring in colleges from everywhere.
