Attack moves are used to get past a defender when they are on a close out and are scrambling toward the offensive player with the ball. Their momentum is carrying them away from the basket, making them vulnerable to an aggressive move toward the basket.
The rip & go basketball drill is best used when a defender is closing out on an angle, usually after a swing or reversal pass on the perimeter. The goal is to use your positional advantage to get by the defender.
The keys to a great rip & go are to be strong with the ball and rip it aggressively through the defender while getting low and pushing well past the defender.
