Borah at Rocky Mountain Game Recap

It was a Black Out at Rocky Mountain High School but for the Grizzlies, they were mostly in the dark. Borah led most of the game through their steady style of play. Never too high or low, the Lions withstood the hard nosed defense that Rocky Mountain presented and turned away several late mini-runs by the Grizzlies. Borah would get the win 53-40

It was impressive to see how many times Rocky could jump into passing lanes and deflect Borah passes. But they struggled to to convert their steals and were ice cold from the field. Both David Trompke and Riley Bruneel did a great job defending Borah’s stud, Ben Tucakovic, who really only scored the majority of his points in the last 3 minutes of the game.

A few more observations: Borah’s Isaiah Wright, though just a freshman, clearly has that “it” factor. He didn’t fill up the stat sheet but when you watch him you can see that he could be something special. He would make the occasional freshman mistake but, unlike most freshmen, he knew exactly what he’d done and never repeated it.

Brett McCutchen (I think that was #15) had a big first half on the boards. I think he had about 87 rebounds in about 12 minutes of play.

Braden Corpus has a knack for hitting big shots in big moments. He had a few run stoppers that really kept the momentum from swinging too far back toward Rocky.

Neat story! I was googling for a different story on Borah and came across this one. Yes, Brett McCutchen is #15.
